EAL Level 3 Award in the Design, Installation & Commissioning of Electrical Energy Storage Systems

Course Overview:

This qualification covers the covers the knowledge, understanding and some of the skills associated with the design, specification, installation, inspection, testing, commissioning and handover of electrical energy storage systems (EESS). It follows the IET Code of Practice for Electrical Energy Storage Systems and industry guidance, together with the requirements of BS 7671. It is aimed at competent electricians who wish to demonstrate they have the necessary understanding and skills associated with an EESS associated typically with a dwelling. It has a range of relevant outcomes covering statutory legislation applicable to EESS, the principles of batteries and EESS, how to specify and design an EESS, installation, inspection and testing, and handover of an EESS.

Qualification pre-requisites:

Learners must be at least 18 years old. Learners must be conversant with the relevant wiring regulations. This can be demonstrated by the learner holding relevant qualifications in BS 7671, as well as inspection and testing. Learners must have minimum levels of literacy and numeracy to complete the learning outcomes and assessments.

This qualification is for practicing electricians. Learners must hold one of the following:

• Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment)

• Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance)

• Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification

• Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services Experienced Worker

• Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services

• Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification.

• Level 3 Electrotechnical in Dwellings

• Level 3 Electrotechnical in Dwellings Experienced Worker Qualification

• EAL Building Services Engineering (Level 3) – Electrotechnical Installation • Equivalent historical qualifications. See EAS Table 4B/4C, and the EAS Qualifications Guide

Or

• ECS Gold Card for a Domestic Electrician, JIB Electrician, or Approved Electrician Card.

In addition, if not included in the above, current certification of BS 7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations. It would also be advisable to have a Level 3 Inspection & Testing qualification.

Who are these qualifications for? :

These qualifications are for suitably qualified electricians only who are conversant with inspection and testing and the wiring regulations. It is for competent electricians who wish to become proficient in the installation of EESS systems and wish to use the qualification to progress to formal recognition of their competence via an industry body/scheme. Learners must have the minimum levels of literacy and numeracy to complete the learning outcomes and assessments.

How is this qualification assessed?:

These qualifications are assessed by a mixture of an on-screen exams, and a practical assessment.

A non refundable deposit of 50% + VAT per person is required on booking to secure your place on the course. Balance is required 2 weeks prior to the course commencement date.

Cancellation terms
