Course Overview:
This training package is designed for candidates who wish to obtain a deeper knowledge of understanding of applying the principles of electrical design for buildings and structures.
Pre-requisites:
To be electrically competent in installation practices and to be able to demonstrate an understanding of the 18th edition wiring regulations.
Objectives:
This comprehensive course equips participants with essential knowledge and practical skills in electrical design. Topics include layout design, compliance with BS 7671, relevant standards, and the Electricity at Work Regulations, single-phase and three-phase design calculations for final and distribution circuits, selection of protective devices including Surge Protective Devices (SPDs), Arc Fault Detection Devices (AFDDs), Overcurrent-protected Devices, and Residual Current Devices (RCDs), and practical applications.
Course Outline:
Foundation in layout design principles for efficient and effective electrical systems.
Compliance with BS 7671, relevant standards, and Electricity at Work Regulations in electrical design.
Proficiency in conducting single-phase and three-phase design calculations for final and distribution circuits.
Understanding of protective device selection including SPDs, AFDDs, Overcurrent-protected Devices, and RCDs for enhanced safety and reliability.

How is this course assessed?:
This course will include a multiple choice knowledge based assessment which will check the candidates knowledge and understanding of the course objectives. As well as a short written design assignment. On completion on the course a CPD certificate will be issued.
