Course Overview:

The “Electricity at Work Regulations” course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the legal requirements and safety procedures outlined in the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 (EAWR). This two-day course aims to equip individuals working with or around electrical systems with the knowledge necessary to aid compliance with regulations and mitigate electrical hazards effectively. This course will enhance career prospects and professional development opportunities.

Course Objectives:

Understand the legal framework of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
Identify electrical hazards in the work place and assess associated risks.
Understand control measures to prevent electrical accidents and injuries.
Recognise the importance of electrical safety management systems and procedures.
Gain insight in to inspection, testing, and maintenance requirements for electrical equipment.

Pre- requisites:

No specific prerequisites are required. However, participants are encouraged to have a basic understanding of electrical principles and workplace safety practices.

Course Content:

Day 1:

Introduction to Electricity at Work Regulations
Legal responsibilities of employers and employees
Electrical hazards and risk assessment
Electrical safety signs and labelling
Control of electrical hazards in various workplace environments
Assessment: Multiple choice assessment

Day 2:

Introduction to Safe isolation procedures and lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices
Practical tasks: Hands-on demonstrations of safe isolation and LOTOprocedures
Safe systems of work and permit-to-work procedures
Understand the different forms of Isolating & Switching procedures
Selection and use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Assessment: Multiple choice assessment

How will this course be assessed?:

Upon successful completion of the course and assessment, participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

A non refundable deposit of 50% per person is required on booking to secure your place on the course. Balance is required at least 14 days prior to the course commencement date.

Cancellation terms

Deposits are non-transferable and non refundable. Cancelling 28 days or more before the course commencement date – you will lose your non refundable deposit only. Cancelling less than one week before the course starts – the full charge will apply. Booking terms and conditions apply.
