EAL Level 3 Award in the Requirements of Fire Detection and Fire Alarm Systems for Buildings BS 5839-1:2025

Course Overview:

This qualification provides learners with the knowledge and understanding of the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance requirements of fire detection and fire alarm systems in non-domestic buildings, in accordance with BS 5839-1:2025.
It is intended for electricians and other competent personnel working in the electrotechnical or fire safety sectors who need to understand the requirements of the updated British Standard.

Qualification pre-requisites:

Learners must:

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Be practicing electricians or competent fire/alarm installers.
• Have a good working knowledge of electrical installation practices.
• Have adequate literacy and numeracy to complete the assessments.

While no specific formal qualification is mandated, learners would benefit from prior knowledge of electrical systems, inspection and testing, or fire alarm system installation.
